BTS/NC007 – "From Lipsia With Love" – ist die neue EP von Metasound & Lucius14.
Bestückt mit 2 neuen Tracks und 2 Remixen von der vorangegangen Travelogue EP präsentieren sie nun die zweite Veröffentlichung auf ihrem eigenem Label.
"A Night At The Elipamanoke" ist eine Hommage an das Elipamanoke, ein bekannter Treffpunkt für Musikliebhaber in Leipzig. In familiärer Atmosphäre taucht man hier regelmäßig in die Welt elektronischer Musik ein. Dort feiert die BTS-Crew auch regelmäßig ihre Labelnights.
Die Stimmung ist dabei immer etwas funky, soulfull, perkussiv und organisch. Ungefähr das spiegelt sich auch in dem Track "A Night At The Elipamanoke" wider.
"Puszta Dub" kommt einem Parforceritt durch die ungarische Steppe mit einer gehörigen Portion Dub in den Satteltaschen gleich. Hier beziehen sich Lucius14 und Metasound auf ihre gemeinsamen ungarischen Wurzeln und verbinden die oft typischen Offbeat-Betonungen osteuropäischer Musik mit dem Offbeat des Reggae und Dubs.
"Nonnenwiese" in der Interpretation von Juno6. Er entfernt sich zwar recht weit vom Original, nutzt dieses aber als Ausgangspunkt seiner Reise und behält dabei die deepe Grundstimmung bei. Ausgestattet mit einem knackig groovenden Beat manövriert Juno6 über die Nonnenwiese, schnappt hier und da angenehm warme Jazzelemente auf, die versuchen, die immer treibender werdenden Beats im Zaum zu halten. Schließlich bricht doch noch alles aus: eine Bass-Hookline schraubt sich immer höher und der Track erfährt seinen Höhepunkt. Wunderbar, wie sich der anfangs unscheinbare Tune im Verlauf zu einem Energieschub entwickelt und damit eine förmliche Tanzaufforderung ausspricht.
Die "Venda People" begegnen uns in Arsen1Computerklubs Basstrompetenklamauk-Version. Mit seiner eigenen Bläser-Auswahl gibt er der Nummer eine neue Spannung, die sich von der durchgehend heiteren Stimmung des Originals gekonnt abhebt. Angetrieben von afrikanischen Percussions und polternden Beats, biegt der Tune immer wieder in undurchsichtige Seitenwege dieser musikalischen Safari ab, um dann doch wieder zum Hauptpfad zurückzukehren. Eine abenteuerliche, jedoch sehr gelungene Reise auf die uns Arsy hier schickt.

BTS/NC007 – "From Lipsia With Love" – is the latest EP by Metasound & Lucius14. This is their second release on BREAK THE SURFACE, including two previously unreleased tracks and two remixes from the recent Travelogue EP.
"A Night At The Elipamanoke" is an homage to - guess what - the Elipamanoke. Elipamanoke is a well known venue in Leipzig, providing a truly familiar atmosphere surrounded by different kinds of electronic sounds. This meeting place for music devotees is also the location of the BREAK THE SURFACE label nights. The vibes are always rather funky, soulful, percussive and organic. And exactly that is what the tune "A Night At The Elipamanoke" adapts.
"Puszta Dub" feels like a chase through the hungarian steppe carrying a proper amount of dub. This tune refers to the hungarian roots of both, Metasound & Lucius14. It combines the typical off-beat patterns of East European music with the off-beat of Reggae and Dub.
"Nonnenwiese" gets reinterpreted by Juno6. Or completely reworked, as – apart from the deeper vibes – there is not much left of the original version. Taking this as the groundwork, Juno6 builds his reinterpretation with a firm groove, some pleasantly warm jazzy grooves that seem to restrain the steadily accelerating beats. But at its peak it all erupts: it's a pleasure to feel the intensifying base hook, the tune evolving to its top, inviting to crowd the floor.
Meet the "Venda People" at Arsen1Computerklub's Basstrompetenklamauk version. With his own trumpet selection he creates a thrill that makes the main difference to the original, rather cheerful tune. Driven by African percussions and rumbling beats, this remix leads through different aspects of electronic music – always keeping track of the central theme. Arsen is taking us on a journey that is as adventurous as exciting.
